In the summer of 2020 we upgraded from our beloved Little Guy Mini Max (it was our very first RV) to a Coachmen Expedition by Catalina. At first it was very difficult to say good bye to our very first camper but after experiencing a lot more camping adventures, this one sure seems to be the one! Our Expedition is fully equipped for some off road camping. We’ve always been the rough and tough tent camping couple but I guess we’ve softened up a bit.
Mini Max to Expedition
We love our Expedition. It’s the perfect size for two while hiding out in the forest or making tight turns in campgrounds. The refrigerator is surprisingly sizable which is what sold me! Complete with a bathroom and not just a wet bath, unlike our previous tear drop, was the best upgrade. We even have a sofa for lounging that folds down to allow room for the queen sized murphy bed. What a world of a difference it makes to not sleep on cushions over a collapsable dining table. Yes, you can say we’ve been happy with our upgraded trade in. This twenty-one footer has all the necessary essentials of home combined with the tools for our off roading dreams.
We have a few more additions or modifications we’d love to make to our rig. But for starters I added a couple of stick on back splashes to make it feel more homey. We’re in the talks of possibly adding wallpaper or painting to make it feel unique to us. There’s quite an abundance of inspiration out there. I love seeing everyone’s before and afters of their home on wheels.
Yes, it’s quite the tiny kitchen for a gal who is absolutely obsessed with cooking. The learning curve and space usage was definitely something to adapt too but along with my love of outdoor cooking over a blistering campfire or on my tiny travel grill, it’s perfectly sufficient. The great outdoors gives you plenty of space and indoors, well you can say that everything is within arms reach! It’s no secret, RVs truly never have enough storage and with that said, I’ve learned to minimize the unnecessary kitchen gadgets and utilize the basics.
Home is where the heart is. Our hearts are deep within nature, so that means home can be anywhere. The more adventures we seek and experience, the more difficult it is to stay put at our home base in Michigan’s suburbs. We’re always extending the times we’re out and when we’re back home we instantly want to start planning the next adventure. We’re always so eager to hit the road again in this tiny wheeled home.
